OUR STORY

JOY International® was founded in 1981 by Dr. Jeff Brodsky. While reading the Scriptures, he came across the verse in John 15:11 where Jesus spoke these words: “I speak these things to you so that My JOY would be in you and that your JOY would be complete.” It was on that day that God gave him the vision for the ministry of JOY International with the idea of sharing the JOY of Jesus and establishing children’s homes in places around the world where he found suffering children. During the early years, JOY International worked with established ministries and homes for children in India, China, Russia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Mexico, Uganda, Kenya, Venezuela, and Fiji. In 2005, Jeff received an honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Promise Christian University in Pasadena, CA. This was earned through more than 25 years of service and humanitarian efforts around the world.

In more recent years, Jeff’s eyes were opened to a burgeoning evil against children known as Human Trafficking, specifically the trafficking of children. Human Trafficking is the fastest-growing crime in the world, becoming a 150 billion-dollar industry, worldwide. After encountering child trafficking, Dr. Jeff decided to focus the work of JOY International on prevention, freedom, and healing efforts for those affected by this heinous crime.

What began as a personal mission by its founder, Dr. Jeff Brodksy, has evolved into a multi-faceted organization with global reach. JOY International works to comprehensively fight child trafficking through programs that address four crucial pillars: prevention, freedom, healing, and empowerment.

JOY International’s Mukti Home for trafficked children in Nepal offers physical, emotional, psychological, educational, and vocational support and healing, while JOY’s empowerment program in Kasese, Uganda is focused on preventing vulnerable girls from being trafficked.

Through the efforts of JOY International, over 3,000 children, teens, and young women have been brought to freedom over the years. Your support of JOY International’s work is crucial as the organization continues to grow and expand its impact.

Jeff says;  “Alone we can do a little, but together, we can bring these children out of a life of hopelessness and into a life of JOY.”
