Join us in Belize for a family-friendly Christian mission trip designed to give adults and teens the opportunity to serve together, experience another culture, and learn more about JOY International’s work in Belize.

The team will support local programs that care for and empower children, families, and communities. Throughout the week, team members will participate in a variety of service opportunities that may include children’s activities, practical projects, community outreach, ministry support, and opportunities to encourage and bless local staff.

This trip is intentionally designed to be accessible to families with older children and teens. We want young people to have the opportunity to experience international service alongside their parents while learning about poverty, vulnerability, trafficking prevention, cross-cultural ministry, and what it means to serve with humility and respect.

You do not need to have children to participate. Individual adults, parents, and families with teens are all welcome to apply.

No previous missions or ministry experience is required. Because this is a Christian mission trip, participants should identify as Christian and be comfortable participating in prayer, faith-based activities, and Christian ministry throughout the week. The most important qualifications are a willing heart, flexibility, a desire to serve others, and a readiness to participate fully in whatever the team is asked to do.

Participants may help with children’s activities, practical service projects, community outreach, encouragement of local staff, and other needs that arise during the week.

Parents are responsible for supervising their children throughout the trip, and minors must travel and participate with a parent or legal guardian.

Applicants should be in good physical condition and able to handle long travel days, warm weather, and a full week of activities.

The $2,100 fundraising commitment covers airfare, lodging, meals, in-country transportation, and ministry supplies.

Join us in Belize for a specialized mission trip focused on emotional healing, trauma-informed care, and strengthening those who serve vulnerable children.

During the first part of the trip, our team will help lead a camp for children and teens living in residential care and foster families. Through age-appropriate activities, small groups, creative expression, movement, teaching, and relationship-building, we will help young people explore emotional health, identity, resilience, and the inner healing and hope found in Jesus.

The second part of the trip will focus on pouring into the adults who care for vulnerable children. The team will help host and lead JOY’s retreat for caregivers, ministry leaders, social workers, house parents, and others serving children throughout Belize. The retreat is designed to create space for rest, spiritual renewal, emotional healing, practical training, connection, and encouragement for individuals who routinely carry the needs and trauma of others.

This is a more specialized mission team, and we are particularly looking for applicants with professional, ministry, or significant volunteer experience in areas such as:

• Pastoral care and prayer ministry

• Mental health counseling or therapy

• Social work

• Coaching or mentoring

• Trauma-informed care

• Therapeutic movement, yoga, breathwork, or body-based practices

• Children’s ministry

• Youth ministry

• Teaching or facilitating small groups

• Worship or creative arts ministry

You do not need to be a licensed clinician to apply. However, participants should have meaningful experience caring for, mentoring, teaching, counseling, coaching, or ministering to others and should be comfortable serving in emotionally sensitive environments.

Because this is a Christian mission trip, participants should identify as Christian and be comfortable participating in prayer, Scripture, faith-based teaching, and Christian ministry throughout the week. Team members should come with humility, emotional maturity, flexibility, and a willingness to serve under the leadership and direction of JOY and our Belizean partners.

The team will travel to multiple locations throughout Belize during the trip, so applicants should be in good physical condition and prepared for long travel days, warm weather, changing schedules, and a full week of ministry.

August 20–31, 2027*

Join us in Uganda for a meaningful mission trip focused on investing in the girls and young women sponsored through JOY International, strengthening families, and bringing trafficking-prevention education and the hope of Christ into communities throughout the Kasese region.

A central part of the trip will be a multi-day camp for the girls in the JOY Uganda Empowerment Program. Through small groups, activities, teaching, worship, and relationship-building, our team will explore topics including identity in Christ, personal worth, healthy relationships, boundaries, sexual health and safety, and recognizing unhealthy or exploitative relationships. Our goal is to create a safe, encouraging environment where girls can ask questions, grow in confidence, deepen their faith, and better understand their value and how to protect themselves.

Team members will also have the opportunity to spend time with the girls JOY sponsors and meet their families, giving participants a deeper understanding of their lives, communities, challenges, and hopes for the future.

Throughout the trip, we will serve alongside our Ugandan partners in community outreach. This will include door-to-door ministry, prayer and relationship-building with families, and human trafficking awareness seminars designed to equip communities to recognize exploitation, understand risk factors, and better protect vulnerable children.

We are especially interested in applicants with experience in:

• Children’s or youth ministry

• Pastoral care and discipleship

• Teaching or small-group facilitation

• Mentoring and coaching

• Social work or counseling

• Community outreach or evangelism

• Human trafficking prevention or advocacy

• Nursing, medicine, public health, or sexual-health education

You do not need previous international missions experience to apply. The most important qualifications are a heart to serve, humility, flexibility, emotional maturity, and a willingness to build relationships across cultures.

October 24-November 2, 2027

Join us on a life-changing trip to Nepal, where you will lead a kids camp for survivors of human trafficking and work to bless the staff and residents of the JOY Mukti Home. Trip participants will lead a camp for the 30+ girls ages 9–18 living at the JOY Mukti Home during a school holiday, creating a fun, faith-filled space where each girl is seen, valued, and encouraged. We will also complete basic home improvement projects around the property to help ensure the home remains a place of safety, joy, and care. Finally, we will take the staff of the JOY Mukti Home on a brief retreat out of Kathmandu for a short period of rest and renewal. Applicants should expect to lead and participate in kids' activities, home improvement projects, and ministering to staff through encouragement and prayer.
